From ARVP
[edit] Useful Outside Information
- Naval Engineering Support Team
- [N.E.S.T.]
- A potential resource for answers to questions in engineering
[edit] Concept drawings
-there are a number of concept drawings [here]. Some may be possible to be built but be difficult to control, and vice-versa. Note: the blue cylinders represent thrusters.
[edit] Operational Requirements
Primary Objective:
- The primary goal of the ARVP in this first year of the AUVC is to have a vehicle submerge into the water and pass through the starting gate.
Primary Requirements/Constraints:
- Inside hull:
- Embedded Computer
- Motor Controller
- FPGA
- Micro controller
- IMU
- Digital Compass
- Control circuitry
- Batteries
- Voltage regulator
- for each item listed, the MecE team needs an estimate of size, mass, price, heat dissipation(eventually), and orientation of sensors. Power Consumption would be useful for the EE team as well.
- Outside hull:
- Altimeter
- Thrusters
- Cameras
- Kill Switch
- Wireless router
- Waterproof connectors
- for each item listed, the MecE team needs an estimate of size, mass, price, and orientation of sensors.
-Secondary Objective(planned for 08-09) :
- Hit the buoy
- Follow the dashed line
- Drop the marker into a bin
- Hit another buoy, and drop another marker into a bin
- Home in on an accoustic pinger
- Pick up "treasure" with a grabber
- Surface within the octagon
-Secondary Requirements/Constraints
- Inside hull:
- Any extra circuit boards needed for treasure grabber, marker dropper, hydrophones, or DVL.
- Outside hull:
- Hydrophones
- DVL
- Treasure Grabber
- Marker Dropper
- for each item listed, the MecE team needs an estimate of size, mass, price, and orientation of sensors
Let a member of the MecE know if there's anything missing/wrong with this list
